We provide a comfortable, caring service environment for persons with disabilities and for people with other significant barriers to employment success. Services focus on helping people achieve successful employment outcomes through assessment, training, career counseling and on the job supports.

Employment Services Program

 Career Assessment and Planning Services Including:
      Interest, skills and educational testing
      Test interpretation and career counseling
      Job try-outs
      Development of individual plan for employment

 Job Placement and Retention Services Including:
      Resume preparation
      Instruction on interview techniques
      Soft Skill training
      Job placement assistance
      On the job support through job coaching or job retention services
      Case management referrals for housing, child care transportation, benefit planning

Center For Career Development

Job skills training to prepare for employment in an office or retail setting.

Instructors and Program managers provide individualized services to improve skills and assist in obtaining employment that matches the individual’s skills, interests and work needs.

Extended Employment

Referred to as "manufacturing's best kept secret", Goodwill's Sheltered Employment workshops provide a supportive setting for individuals to enhance their skill levels, while providing high quality service at affordable costs to customers. Many companies utilize our manpower to reduce costs, solve short-term production problems and satisfy customer requests. The companies benefit from quality work and attractive pricing, while the employees benefit from hands-on experience and skills training while earning income.

  • Automatic packaging and semi-automatic shrink wrap with the largest heat tunnel in the area

Job Hunters Program

In conjuction with the Neighborhood and Community Services, Department of Kansas City, MO. and HUD, we want to help you or someone you know get back on their feet. 

We can help you:

  • Create a resume
  • Build your job-hunting confidence
  • Find job leads with real possibilities
  • Get to interviews
  • Polish your image

    The "Job Resource Center" includes such features as:

    • Phone bank and voice mail
    • Hundreds of job leads
    • Access to computer, copier & fax
    • Job search workshops
    • Emergency referral services
    • Street guides/ maps
    • Advice/ encouragement
    • Bus passes

      Annually 700-900 individuals will obtain employment through the Homeless Job Hunters Program offered by The Helping Hand of Goodwill Industries.

      (It takes about 12-15 visits per person to the Job Center before a job is obtained.)

      All new job hunters start with an orientation on any Tuesday or Thursday morning. Orientation begins promptly at 8am.  Call for an appointment (816) 842-7425 ext. 303
