Emily found independence through the Power of Work
Meet Emily. Emily was a recent high school graduate who spent her days sleeping late at her grandmother’s house. After receiving a referral from Vocational Rehabilitation, Emily completed Goodwill’s Career Impact Program and earned a job at Hy-Vee.
Goodwill staff worked closely with other agencies to provide services that helped Emily become independent. She now lives on her own in an apartment behind Hy-Vee so she can walk to work! And, Goodwill connected Emily with a volunteer opportunity at Crossing Ministries, where she has new friends and runs a loom-something she loves to do. Emily’s new-found independence give her and her grandparents a lot of pride.
