On-The-Job Training

Goodwill’s Employment Services offers two on-the-job training programs: Project SEARCH and Employer-Based Transitional Training (EBTT). Project SEARCH and EBTT provide real-life work experience and training to help youth with significant disadvantages or different abilities to make successful transitions from school to productive adult life.

Students enroll in a nine-month program that provides training and career exploration, innovative adaptations, long-term job coaching, and continuous feedback from teachers, skills trainers, and the employers. Goodwill’s role is key to each students' success. Our Goodwill Skills Trainer empowers students during their internships, assists with job search to earn permanent employment at the end of the program and helps students acclimate to their new jobs. We have a 100% success rate in placing students into competitive employment at the completion of the program.

Project SEARCH and EBTT on-the-job training is offered Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 2:30pm at various locations throughout the Greater Kansas City area.

Partners include Children’s Mercy Hospital, the North Kansas City School District, Truman Medical Center, Kansas City VA Medical Center, Kansas City Public Schools, LMV Automotive Systems, Liberty Public Schools, Center for Human Services, and Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation.

Participants are referred by the North Kansas City School District, Kansas City Public Schools or Liberty Public Schools, and must be VR eligible. This program is funded by Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation.
